Any list can offer the export wizard: the user picks the format and columns and gets the file right away — or, for large volumes, a notification with the link once the server is done.

Exporting is a permission too

Export is an operation like create or delete: granted profile by profile, page by page. Data leaves the system only in the hands of those allowed to take it.
